Water Tanker Prices in Dubai: Why They Change and How to Compare
By WaterLink Team · Published · Updated
How much does a water tanker cost in Dubai?
Water tanker prices in Dubai are not fixed: they move from day to day. The biggest factor is how much sweet water the filling stations can supply, followed by demand, tanker size, distance, urgency and access. On a day of short supply, the same load can cost more than twice as much as on a normal day. Ask for today's delivered price before the truck leaves.

Most water tanker prices you see online are a snapshot. In Dubai, the cost of a load of sweet water moves with supply: when filling stations are short or have long queues, every supplier pays more and waits longer, and prices rise. When supply recovers, they come down again. On a shortage day, the same 2,500-gallon load can cost more than twice what it did a few days earlier.
That’s why WaterLink doesn’t publish a price list. A list would be wrong on most days. Instead, we quote today’s delivered price on WhatsApp, and once you confirm, that price is fixed for your order.
What decides the price on the day
- Sweet water supply. The biggest factor. Short supply means higher prices for every supplier.
- Demand. Summer heat, DEWA shutdowns and area outages bring many orders at once.
- Quantity. Bigger loads cost more in total but usually less per gallon.
- Distance. A long drive from the filling station costs more fuel and time.
- Urgency. A same-hour delivery may mean sending a truck out of its planned route.
- Access. Gated communities, long hose runs and basements take more time.
- Time of day. Dubai restricts heavy trucks on some major roads at peak times (for example Sheikh Zayed Road, 6 am–10 pm, from 1 October 2026), which affects which routes and times are possible.
How to compare two quotes
Two quotes only compare if they describe the same thing. Ask each supplier:
- Is this the total delivered price, water plus delivery?
- Is VAT included?
- US or imperial gallons? A US gallon is 3.785 litres; an imperial gallon is 4.546 litres. The same “2,500 gallons” can differ by about 20%.
- Sweet or salt water? Salt water is cheaper but only for construction compaction and dust.
- When will it arrive?
- Could anything be added on site, such as waiting time or a long hose run?
Quotes are for that day. A price you were given last week, or saw online, may not be available today.
Small orders
Most suppliers don’t deliver below 1,000 gallons. WaterLink delivers from 200 gallons. Per gallon, a small order costs more because the truck makes the same trip, but in total you pay far less than for water you can’t store.
Regular deliveries
Sites, camps, car washes and buildings that need water every week can agree a per-load rate under a scheduled supply plan. Because sweet water supply changes, we review that rate with you when the market moves, rather than surprising you on the day.
Tanker water vs DEWA water
Mains water from DEWA is much cheaper per litre than tanker water; DEWA bills water in slabs (see DEWA’s tariff page). A tanker is for when mains water isn’t available or isn’t enough: outages, empty tanks, new pools, sites and camps.
