Winter Camping in Dubai: Getting Water to Your Camp
By WaterLink Team · Published · Updated
How do I get water to a winter camp in Dubai?
Winter camps in Dubai have no mains water, so they use portable tanks filled by a water tanker. Dubai's winter camping season runs roughly November to April. WaterLink fills camp tanks with sweet water from 200 gallons and can set up weekly top-ups, provided the tanker can reach the tank on firm ground.

Dubai’s winter camping season runs roughly November to April, when desert nights are cool. Dubai Municipality runs a reservation system for winter camp sites — check its requirements before setting up.
How much water to plan for
Camps use water for washing, cooking, toilets and cleaning. The amount depends on how many people stay and for how long. A simple way to plan:
- Start with your tank. Most camps use portable tanks; their capacity sets your maximum.
- Track use for the first week. Note the level each day.
- Set a top-up schedule so you refill before the tank runs low.
Keep bottled water for drinking at the camp — it’s easier to manage than drinking from a portable tank.
Choosing a tank
- Size: big enough to last between deliveries. Fewer, larger deliveries cost less per gallon.
- Material: food-grade plastic tanks for potable water.
- Placement: in shade if possible, on level ground, with the lid sealed against sand and insects.
- Access: where a truck can park close by on firm ground.
Can a tanker reach your camp?
Water tankers are road trucks, not 4×4s. They need firm, flat ground to drive and park safely. Before you book:
- Send us your location pin and a few photos of the access route and parking spot.
- Tell us how far the tank is from where a truck can stop, so we bring enough hose.
- If the camp is in soft sand, place the tank near a firm track or the road.
Weekly top-up plans
For the whole season, a fixed weekly slot is easiest: same day, same time, same quantity. We deliver from 200 gallons, so even small camp tanks are worth filling. See events & winter camps.
